Sesimbra and surroundings

What to do in and around Sesimbra?

Thanks to the many beaches in and near the area, both Portuguese people and tourism can enjoy the fishing port.

Looking for a challenging activity? Then be sure to go to the port of Sesimbra. Here you have many tourist companies that will be happy to assist you. From scuba diving, kayaking, stand-up paddling, surfing, dolphin spotting, boat trips to Cabo Espichel or boat trips to private caves. It’s all possible there! In summer, you also have an aqua-jump trampoline on the sea at Praia da Califórnia.

Sesimbra is also known for its culture. So you have the castle built in 1201 by King Sancho II

Arrábida and its surroundings

South of Lisbon on the Setúbal peninsula lies the Serra da Arrábida. In 1976 it became a natural park. It has an area of 11,000 hectares of land and 6,000 hectares of sea. Here are some of the most beautiful beaches in the area. You obviously have beautiful trails for beginner and advanced hikers and cyclists.

There are also many wineries and vineyards in this region, thanks to its fertile soils.

Some of our favorites are: José de Maria Fonseca, Bacalhoa Vinhos de Portugal & Quinta do Alcube.

Lisbon and surroundings

Casa Pausa Sesimbra is less than an hour’s drive from Lisbon. An ideal distance therefore for a nice day trip. Take a ride up the famous streetcar. Visit the large square on the Tagus. Or shop until you drop in the city’s many cozy streets.

When in Lisbon, you can also visit the Palácio Nacional da Pena in Sintra. Located at the top of a hill, 450 meters above the Portuguese city of Sintra. The palace has been on UNESCO’s World Heritage List since 1995, along with several other palaces of the area.

Visit Fátima, a pilgrimage site northeast of the capital Lisbon. Between May and October 1917, Mary, Our Lady of Fátima, appeared 6 times to 3 shepherd children.
